Black and White Bathroom

Black and white bathrooms are timeless.  This color palette is so versatile and coordinates with any color.  Black and white tiles can be a permanent fixture in your bathroom, but when you feel like a change, you can repaint your space and add different color towels and accessories.  This is a very good option for those who like the "Change It Up" every now and then, but does not have the time or resources for a major construction project.

Black and white bathrooms look Really good in small spaces.

There are situations that you can not enlarge a space.  You have to work with what you have.  We had a client with this scenario.  Our client that wanted to redo their attic bathroom in their 1930's bungalow.  This space is very small, but with some help, it now has some character.

To help them save money, their current vanity was in good shape, but the wood tone did not go well with the new color scheme.  Our client painted the vanity, mirror frame and light fixture with a black gloss paint.

We added the black and white tile on the floor, upgraded their bathtub fixtures, and installed wainscoting on their walls.

Hand held shower in tub is an absolute must.

Re-purposed vanity.  Repainted in a black gloss paint.
Mirror frame and light fixture - repurposed and repainted in black gloss.

CERAMIC TILE

When I see loft spaces in old buildings, I always love how the exterior brick is part of the design.  Your decor can be modern or traditional and the exposed brick always seems to look "just right".

If you are lucky enough to have one of these industrial loft spaces - Congratulations. But for the rest of us, we can achieve the look.

Rodine has a product line called London Brick.  This is a ceramic material that is inspired by early 20th century brick.

It comes in 3 sizes - - 6x25, 13x25 and 30.5x60.5 - in a colour range featuring earthy shades: multicolor, sunset, beige, charcoal, fog and the new brown, obtained by mixing black, cream and brown.

This is a beautiful line and I can't wait to use it somewhere in my home.

Floor Tile

There are many options for your floor; wood, vinyl, tile.  Once you make a decision on what type of flooring, you have to make more decisions of color, style, etc.

The entire process can be overwhelming.  Choosing what type of floor is important and you want to make sure you "Get It Right".

Tile flooring seems to have endless possibilities on size, color, texture, style.  In the last few years, ceramic tile that resembles wood has been very popular.  You have the wood "look" with the durability of tile.  The early versions seemed to be a more of a painted on wood grain.  As always, new technology prevails and some of today's wood line ceramic tile is beautiful, realistic with the durability of tile.  Olympia Tile has a line Charmwood.  This tile comes in 6" x 36" lengths and has a rustic look to it.  When you see it, you almost have to feel it to confirm that is it in fact Tile.

Some do not like tile because it is cold.  An easy fix is to have a custom underfloor heating mat (prices do vary depending on room layout, but should not break the bank).  Any tile store can price out and it is an easy installation for a tile installer or the experienced homeowner.

This is just one example of many for floor tile.  Visit a tile store in your area and be prepared to be overwhelmed but enjoy the journey of updating your home.

Saline Bath Remodel

Our client wanted to remodel her bathroom in a contemporary style.  After looking at many cabinetry options, she could not find exactly what she wanted; SOLUTION -
MHI Interiors designed and constructed a vanity cabinet to fit her needs.  Finding a mirror was another obstacle she had, but MHI Interiors was able to design and build her a mirror frame to compliment the vanity.

We installed quartz counters, 12" x 24" floor tile along with 12" x 24" gloss white wall tile in the shower.  To dress up the wall tile, we added a deco strip.

She is very happy with the finish product and loves the overall contemporary feel of her bathroom.

Bathroom Remodel

EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A SMALLER BATHROOM, WE WERE ABLE TO PUT SOME NICE FEATURES IN IT.
OLYMPIA TILE - 12" X 12" MILLE RICHE IN BROWN WAS INSTALLED ON THE FLOORS

THE VANITY IS MERILLAT MASTERPIECE CABINETRY - GALLINA STYLE IN MAPLE WITH MUSHROOM AND COCOA GLAZE FINISH. WE ADDED FEET TO THE BOTTOM TO GIVE IT THE LOOK OF A PIECE OF FURNITURE. THE COUNTER IS CAMBRIA QUARTZ - COLOR BLACKWOOD. USING A SQUARE SINK FROM KOHLER COMPLETES THE LOOK.

IN THE SHOWER, WE USUALLY PUT IN NICHES.  THEY BREAK-UP THE WALL AND ARE CONVENIENT FOR THE HOMEOWNER.
THE WALL TILE IS OLYMPIA TROPICAL GRASS TILE IN 12" X 24" AND 6" X 24" PIECES - COLOR TAUPE. THE SHOWER FLOOR IS ISLAND STONE PEBBLE SERIES.

DELTA LAHARA SERIES SHOWER FIXTURES INSTALLED.

THE HOMEOWNER HAD A CHANDELIER LIGHT FIXTURE, BUT THE CEILING HEIGHT WAS TOO LOW. WE CUT A OPENING TO RAISE PART OF THE CEILING AND RE-DRYWALLED THE AREA.  CHANGED THE OLD WINDOW TO A PELLA AWNING STYLE WINDOW WITH OBSCURED GLASS.
